# Store address

> How the subdomain on vexaris.app works, the naming rules, and how to connect your own domain.

Every store gets an address on the shared domain:

```text theme={null}
https://yourname.vexaris.app
```

That address is live from the moment provisioning finishes, with HTTPS enabled. The admin panel sits at the same host under `/admin`.

## Naming rules

| Rule | Detail |
| - | - |
| Length | 5 to 40 characters |
| Allowed characters | Lowercase letters, digits and hyphens |
| Not allowed | Uppercase, spaces, dots, underscores, symbols |
| Hyphens | Cannot lead, cannot trail, cannot double |
| Digits only | Refused, the name needs at least one letter |
| Reserved | Platform names and taken names are refused |
| Accounts | A name that matches an existing username is refused |

The field inside **Dashboard → My Stores** validates against these rules as you type, so a green check means the name is free at that moment.

## Changing the address

The subdomain is written when the store is created and is part of the store's identity. There is no rename button, because renaming would break links, indexed pages and customer bookmarks. If you need a different address, delete the store and create a new one, or contact support before you have live orders.

## Connecting your own domain

Custom domains are available on Starter, Professional and Enterprise. The store stays on `vexaris.app` as well, so existing links keep working.

**1. Enter the domain**

In **Dashboard → My Stores** open the custom domain dialog and type the hostname you want to serve, for example `shop.example.com`.

**2. Add one DNS record**

The dialog shows the exact records to copy. Use an **A record** for an apex domain (`example.com`) or a **CNAME** for a subdomain (`shop.example.com`). Add only one of them.

**3. Save and wait**

After saving, the status stays `pending` until DNS resolves. The certificate is issued automatically once the record points at the store, and the status switches to active.

**4. Update the site URL**

In the store admin open **Settings → Site Settings** and set **Site URL** to the new domain. Social login providers need this exact value to accept redirects.

> [!NOTE]

> DNS propagation can take a few minutes, occasionally longer at some registrars. Nothing else needs to be configured: the certificate, HTTPS redirect and store routing are handled for you.
