# SEO settings

> Set page titles and meta descriptions for system pages, custom pages and legal pages, with sensible defaults.

**Marketing → SEO** lists every indexable page and lets you edit its title and meta description without touching code.

## The page groups

| Group | Contents |
| - | - |
| System pages | Home, product listing, cart, login, register, 404 and the other built in pages |
| Custom pages | Everything you created under **Marketing → Custom Pages** |
| Legal pages | Privacy, terms, refund and other legal documents |

## Editing a page

**1. Pick the page**

Use the search box or the group list on the left.

**2. Write a title**

Aim for 50 to 60 characters. The store name is appended automatically where it fits.

**3. Write the description**

Aim for 140 to 155 characters, one sentence that says what the page offers.

**4. Save**

Changes apply immediately, no rebuild needed.

## Defaults and fallbacks

Pages without a saved title fall back to a generated title built from the site name and the page name. A default description is shown in the editor so you always see what visitors would get.

> [!NOTE]
>
> For legal pages the title comes from the legal document itself. Only the meta description can be edited here, which keeps the page heading and the document name in sync.

## Beyond titles

* **Sitemap**: generated automatically and lists published products, categories, custom pages and announcements
* **Robots**: the store is indexable by default, no action needed
* **Structured data**: product pages emit Product markup with the discounted price, stock state and ratings when reviews exist
* **Canonical**: every page points at the address set in **Settings → Site Settings**, so a custom domain change needs that field updated

> [!WARNING]
>
> Do not paste the same description into every page. Duplicate descriptions across a catalogue are one of the most common reasons a store gets indexed poorly.
